Fumiko Club Guide

A quick overview of Fumiko's features and how to use it to manage your book club!

Overview

Fumiko is a discord bot built to assist book clubs with managing queues, researching books, retain detailed information on reading history and member ratings, and more! A list of commands can be found here or by using /help.

Book Information

Users can utilize the /book and /author commands to get detailed information about specific books and view books by a specific author, respectively.

Queue Management

The /queue command suite allows each member to suggest a book to the queue. Admins can use the /adminqueue commands to forcefully add as many books as they would like, as well as remove books from the queue themselves.

Selecting Books

When a server admin wants to select the next book to be read, they can use the /select commands to decide how to fairly select the next book, including via a poll, FIFO-logic (first-in-first-out), manual selection, and random determination. Optionally, a deadline can be set to have linked to the book.

Progress Updates

The /progress update command can be used to set a short progress update (280 characters) about where you are in the book that other members can then view with /progress view.

Current Book & Finishing

Once a book has been selected, it is set as the club's /current book. Book's can (optionally) be forcefully finished when the deadline is reached, or they can be finished by an admin using /finishbook. When a book is finished, Fumiko will post a message with information about the read as well as a poll, allowing all users to rate the book.

Reading History & Statistics

You can view your club's reading history with commands like:

• /stats - shows lots of information about your book club
• /clubrating - to see your club's rating for specific books
• /clubread - to see your club's comprehensive reading history
• /userrating - can be used to see a specific member's ratings

Moderator Features

Fumiko also includes comprehensive moderator functionality, including a /config command suite to customize your club's preferences for the bot, including whether or not bot announcements should be pinned, if mature content should be shown, etc. /setup can be used to view all available config settings. /adminprogress remove, /adminprogress ban, and /adminprogress unban can also be used to remove inappropriate progress updates, though Fumiko does its best to filter inappropriate content when progress updates are being attempted already.
