WHAT IS POKER NIGHT?
The Poker Night Activity is a Texas hold 'em style game we developed here at Discord. You can play with up to 7 players total per game (you + 6 others), and have up to 17 additional spectators max.
HOW TO PLAY POKER NIGHT
These instructions may look slightly different on mobile devices.
After launching the game, you can tap on Casual (located on the board) to change the game type to Showdown or stick to Casual, or tap on Join Table to start the game.
Here is a breakdown of each game mode.
Casual: No limitation to your number of buy-ins (play as much as you want). Bots allowed. Winnings reset when you leave the table. Customizable Table settings.
Showdown: Buy-ins are from limited Chip Reserve. No bots allowed. Winnings distributed to your Chip Reserves. Compete with your Server for the top spot on the Showdown Letterboard. You can learn more about Showdown in the section below.
Once you’ve decided on which game mode to play, tap on Join Table. For this example, we’ll be playing Casual.
You can invite other players or tap on Add Bot in the top left to add bots to the table.
If you want to remove a bot from the table, hover over their profile avatar and tap on it when you see the X appear.
If you want to change any of the game settings, tap on Edit Table Settings in the bottom right. After deciding on your settings, tap on Change Settings to save.
Here you can change the the following settings:
- Turn Timer: How much time each player has for their turn. Minimum of 15 seconds can be selected up to 90 seconds per turn.
- Starting Bank: Amount of currency a player starts with. You can start with a minimum of $100 up to $10,000.
- Big Blind: The minimum buy-in bet for all players. You can have a minimum of $5 up to $500.
After everyone (including the bots) joins the table and you’re happy with your game settings, you can tap on Start Game to start.
Each player starts with 2 cards each round, and you can Call (or Check), Fold, or Raise the bid.
- Call (or Check): Match the current bid or current raise
- Fold: Discard your hand and forfeit the current pot.
- Raise: Raise the current bid higher
After each player places their bets for the round, you can either show your cards or fold, depending on your hand. Once everyone shows their cards or folds, the round ends.
The game continues until someone wins all of the money from the pot at the end of a round.
If you’re unsure of how to play the game while in the middle of playing, you can also tap on the cogwheel in the top right corner and then tap on How To for a guide in-game.
WHAT IS THE POKER SHOP?
In our February 2023 update we replaced the Gift Tokens feature with a new in-game Poker Shop where you can claim free content packs or purchase content packs to customize your gameplay with stickers, card backs, dealer skins, and themes. You'll use real currency to purchase anything in the Poker Shop.
WHAT ARE CONTENT PACKS?
Content Packs are bundles of in-game cosmetic content with a theme. For example, the Lucky Stars Content Pack has dealer skins, stickers, and card backs.
Some Content Packs will be free to claim while others require purchasing with real currency.
WHAT IS SHOWDOWN MODE?
In Showdown Mode players must buy in using funds from their chip reserve. When leaving the game, winnings are deposited into the player's chip reserve. The chip reserve is used to rank players in the same server on the Showdown Leaderboard.
The winner of the previous Showdown Leaderboard Season gains the crown to be worn for the duration of the current Season.
This bot doesn't seem to use slash commands.
