About DisDubs

Pick a scene, hand out the parts, and perform it over voice chat. You get the clip back with your voices on it.

DisDubs is a group dubbing game that runs inside Discord. Nobody installs anything.

Cast the parts. Claim the characters you want to voice — one person can take several. Everybody in the voice channel sees who has what.

Perform it. The clip plays in sync on every screen with the script over it, and your lines light up as they arrive. Shoot the whole scene in one pass, or let everyone work their own lines at their own pace.

Fix it, then render. Every line comes back as its own take, so a flubbed word costs one line rather than the scene. Redo what you want, slide anything that landed early or late into place against the original, then mix it down to an mp4 and watch it back together.

How the recording works

A Discord Activity cannot reach a microphone — the sandbox it runs in does not allow it. So DisDubs records a different way: a bot sits in your voice channel and captures each person on their own separate track.

That turns out to be better than microphone capture would have been. Nobody grants a permission or installs a driver, it works the same on desktop, web and mobile, and because every performer is on an isolated track, one person laughing does not ruin somebody else's line.

While a take is rolling, everyone in the voice channel is recorded — cast or not. Audio from people without a part is never used in the dub, but it is captured, and the bot is visibly sitting in the channel while it happens. Tell your friends it is running. Recordings are deleted after 30 days; the privacy policy spells out exactly what is stored and for how long.

Bring your own scenes

DisDubs reads The Choicer Voicer's dub packs, so the existing library of scenes works out of the box — drop a pack in and it shows up in the picker. Anything you upload stays private to the server you imported it into. You are responsible for having the right to use whatever you import; see the terms.

What you need

A voice channel, at least two people, and the DisDubs bot in the server — it is the bot that does the recording, so the Activity will tell you if it is missing and hand you the invite link.
